Sage green has emerged as the key hue on the Spring Summer 2019 menswear canvas.
Brands like Boglioli, Canali, Corneliani, DSquared 2 and Oliver Spencer showcased it on their runways. While Boglioli sent out a sage green pantsuit, Canali went to hue for Bollywood actors like Hrithk Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor who were spotted donning the colour n their frequent air travels.
Sandeep Gonsalves, co-founder SS Homme says, “In terms of menswear, it is easy to flow with various pieces such as suits, pullovers and semi-formal blazers. It does look extremely fresh on a casual or business suit and in terms of Indian skin, yes, this colour can be used on various silhouettes. The tone complements well with experimental design and layered detailing.”
Sage, greys and cremes (earthy tones) always work well in the Indian summer and the best way to wear them is to colour block it. Designer Gaurav Khanijo says, “I think it looks good on Indian skin tone. If mixed and matched with right shades (yellow, ivories, lemon, creme) and print, it gives a soothing vibe, especially in our country’s summer!
Over the past couple of seasons, a lot of brands have done toned-down versions of bright colours, for instance, brown with a reddish tinge and the prominence of sage green seems to fit into that category. Stylist Isha Bhansali observes, “Given how men are conscious of experimenting with too many hues, it works well. Also, colour blocking is a major trend and this shade complements a plethora of colours.”
